I. Study the following pie-chart carefully to answer the given questions

1. What is the total number of men studying in the Institute?

Solution:   First we have to calculate men and women from pie chart and table for each specialization. It becomes easy to answer other questions also.

Number of students in HR
Number of men in HR = 2/5 ×22/100 ×4500 = 2×22×9 = 396.
The number of women in HR = 3/5 ×22/100 ×4500 =594. (This way we have to calculate for each specialization).

From the above, the answer is 2421.

2.The number of women studying marketing is approximate what percent of the total number of students in the institute?

(a) 5  (b) 12  (c) 15  (d) 7

Solution: The required percentage is (300×100)/4500 = 6.6% = 7%.

3. What is the total number of men studying Banking and International Business?
(a) 1125
(b) 297
(c) 1015
(d) 594

Solution: The required number of men = 675 + 340 =1015.

4. The number of women studying finance is what percent of the number of men studying the same?
(a) 80
(b) 65
(c) 95
(d) 70

Solution:  The required percentage = (220×100)/275.

5. In which specialization do the maximum number of women study?
(a) IT
(b) Marketing
(c) HR
(d) Finance.

Solution: From the above solved table. The obvious answer is IT.

II. The following Bar-Chart gives the production of cycles by three different companies X, Y and Z for different years. Study this chart to answer the questions that follow.

X= Red, Y = green, Z= blue

1. Considering the production of each company separately in how many instances, is the percentage increase in the production of cycles over the previous year ‘production greater than 20%?

2. The annual percentage increase in the total production of cycles from 1995 to 1999 was:
