Solution:
Average imports made by company A = (30+50+60+40+70+60+75)/7=385/7=55
In none of the given years, the imports are exactly equal to 55 (crores).

(1.2) In which of the following years was the difference between the imports made by company B and C the maximum?

(d) 1993

Answer: By visual inspection,  it is clear that 1993 is the desired year (as the distance between two points is the maximum in 1993.)

By mental observation ( as 50 = 40+60/2). 1992 only is the desired year. You don’t need any calculation. See the year where the point of A lies exactly in the middle of points of B and C.

Solution:  percentage increase  = [(final -initial) /initial ]* 100
=[50 – 40/40]* 100 = 25%.

Solution: the total imports (in crores) made by all the three companies together: From the heights of the points we observe that the total heights of three points is the maximum withers in 1995, but to be sure we find actual values for the two years.
In 1995 = 70+80+85 = 235. In 1997 = 75+79+85 =230.clearly, 1995 is the desired year

Solution:
No. of Students appeared from school D = 180
No. of Students appeared from school B = 150
Required percentage = [( 180 -150)/ 150 ] * 100
= 30/150   * 100
= 1/5  * 100  =  20%

Solution: Failed students = Appeared – Passed.
No of students failed
School A = 250 -200 = 50.
School B = 150 – 130 = 20.

2.3) In the year 2006, the number the exam from school A was 12% more than that who appeared at the exam from the same from the same school in the previous year, how many students appeared at the exam from school A in 2006?

Solution: No. of students in school A in 2006 who appeared at the exam=
(250 ×112) /100  = 280.

Solution: (240 + 200): (210 + 150) = 440:360 =11: 9

Solution:
Average number of students who passed from schools A, B and C = (200 +130 + 210 )/3 = 540/3

=180.
